Early Childhood Educator Concentrated OYAP
Early Childhood Educator Concentrated OYAP is a program
specifically designed to help students make a smooth successful transition
from high school directly into their post-secondary Early Childhood Educator

In Halton the ECE OYAP is a Partnership Program with Seneca College and

being signed for their apprenticeship. Students will have the unique opportunity
to earn both secondary school credits and Seneca College ECE diploma and
apprenticeship credits in the same semester.

Early Childhood Educator (ECE): (NOC code 4214)
ECEs work with children in childcare centres and similar settings. Most ECEs
work with children between the ages of 2 and 5. ECEs need to understand how
children learn and develop, not just cognitively, but physically, socially
and emotionally. Some ECEs specialize in working with children with special
needs. ECEs design games and activities that are fun but also educational.
They need to be creative and resourceful in planning activities that will
help children develop and build their self-esteem, as well as keep them interested
and motivated. They also need to establish routines that will allow children
to feel comfortable and secure.
